Deck the Halls with boughs of Holly, Fa la la la la la la la la! A very Merry Christmas tune and when listened closely to the words sends our hearts full swing into Christmas joy! So often even before we have digested our Thanksgiving turkey our subconscious is whistling some Christmas tune! Honestly though, who can blame us! It truly is that ‘wonderful time of year’. Town tree lightings are well underway, parades featuring the jolly guy himself velvet suited up are pulling us all together in common wonderment.

As Christmas draws nigh, how many of us has got a head start on those decorations? Ok all, mental checklist: Tree, wreaths, stockings, indoor lights, outdoor lights, that old ornament you have had since you were a kid (oh no! where is it?). “I am a decorator, so Christmas is a fun time for me.” Says Gloria Scellato from the village of Springdale, here in The Villages. “I started early and looked for deals.” Her very own house was decked out early and looks amazing in blue and silver as you can see in the video above and the pictures below.

While decking your house in Merry Christmas measure, let’s take a close look at what we could add that could give an extra dose of cheer to our family and friends. Moms, Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunties, Uncles; This is for you!

1.  Don’t just Deck the Halls, Deck the walls too!

With your extra lights and ornaments, have you considered a handmade wall tree? How about bringing in some tree branches to top a homemade reindeer guarding your fire place? Hand painted canvas can be simple and fun for your kids to put their hands on and bring out those new memories every year after!

2. Let’s get crafty and save some of that Christmas budget for presents. Taking ornaments, wreaths, tinsel that has seem to lost some of its life and repurposing them can bring your resourcefulness to a whole new arena! How To!

3. This one is for all you MEN! We know you are more than the Christmas lights on the outside of the house! Let the kids string the popcorn! We found this AWESOME idea for a manly addition for a Christmas tree that is both unique and looks great surrounded by the family ornaments. Brass and Silver Hex Nuts! What else is awesome? Take them down after the holidays and reuse them on the family boat. Ok, the men win with this one!

With all the Holiday festivities well underway, finish up that house and enjoy the lights around The Villages, Florida! Take in a parade and have a VERY Merry Christmas!
